Tes Pharma is a biotech company focused on delivering first-in class therapeutics for high unmet medical needs in oncology, metabolic, and renal diseases. Tes Pharma’s fully integrated scientific team translates expertise in multidisciplinary fields into the discovery of innovative therapies.
Your role will involve drug discovery initiatives including tasks such as target identification, druggability assessment, hit discovery and optimization. You will partner with research scientists from the Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK, and Biology. In your role you will employ a diverse set of CADD and ML techniques to support the progress of pre-clinical phase drug discovery projects.

Responsibilities
- Drive ligand-based, structure-based, and ML approaches in multiple drug discovery programmes designing innovative small molecules to enable and progress projects, from hit identification to lead optimisation.
- Support design-make-test-analysis cycles in drug discovery projects by applying computational tools.
- Support exploratory efforts to assess new target druggability.
- Build, test, and use deep learning models for biological activity and ADME properties prediction.
- Creatively solve project issues to ensure project objectives. Opportunity to be involved in decision making process in drug discovery teams.
Your Background
- Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, or related fields
- 2+ years of industry experience, or 4+ years academic post-doc experience.
- In depth knowledge problem-solving skills in computational chemistry and drug design.
- Significant experience in applying molecular modelling to drug design.
- Knowledge in building and applying ML/DL models.
- Experience in managing proprietary data and mining public databases.
- Understanding of the drug discovery process and good knowledge of related disciplines (DMPK, biology, tox).
- Proficiency in computational chemistry software packages, including RDKIT, Desmond, and Schrodinger Suite.
- Experience in using Knime is a plus.
- Experience in programming / scripting in Python is a plus.
- IT management (Linux environment) skill is a plus.
- Excellent team player with a collaborative mindset and ability to work independently.
- Strong organisation skills, attention to details, with strong critical thinking, analytical thinking and trouble shooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can communicate and present.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day regular laboratory work including the set-up of experiments, analysing data, interpretation, and reporting of the results.

Designing, planning, and executing synthetic organic chemistry experiments following literature / patent procedures and working to increase synthesis efficiency.

Route scouting / optimization from milligrams to multigram scale.

Effective and concise presentation of results in internal meetings or international congress and contribution to fruitful discussions.

Perform all laboratory work in a safe manner and comply with all regulations, adhere to company policies.

Share basic maintenance and housekeeping duties of laboratory equipment and chemistry laboratory areas.

Creatively solve project issues to ensure project objectives.
Your Background

PhD in organic chemistry or related areas.

Strong interest in synthetic organic chemistry and application of the latest scientific methodologies to solve challenging medicinal chemistry problems.

Familiarity with a wide range of organic synthesis techniques.

Basic expertise in analytical chemistry techniques, in particular HPLC-MS.

Familiarity with standard laboratory instrumentation and software (SciFinder, Mestrenova, Datawarrior, Microsoft365, Design-Expert) is an advantage.

Scientific publications in peer-reviewed chemistry-related journals are desirable.
